Synopsis: In Sacramento, California in 2002, Christine ‘Lady Bird’ McPherson, a teenager drifting through her final year of high school, clashes with her overbearing mother Marion, a nurse who works tirelessly to keep her family afloat after Lady Bird's father Larry loses his job. Lady Bird is eager to get out of Sacramento and embarks on a journey of self-discovery, experimenting with new friendships and boyfriends while also trying to balance her relationship with her mother and her best friend Julie.
