Synopsis: Lonely and depressed widower Jack finds his life changing when he is befriended by eight-year-old Florrie, who moves in next door and is fascinated by his racing pigeon Ruby Blue, and also by attractive French neighbour Stephanie. At her behest he gives his pigeon to a local former hooligan, but his happiness is spoilt when his friendship with Florrie is viewed as suspicious and Stephanie reveals a devastating secret. In order to regain his happiness he has to stand up to those around him and put aside his own prejudices and fears.
