Synopsis: Alice Kinney is the daughter of the late, celebrated 1970s filmmaker John Kinney. Newly separated from her music industry executive husband Austen, Alice decides to move back to her hometown of Los Angeles with her two young daughters. During a night out to celebrate her 40th birthday, Alice meets three aspiring filmmakers, Harry (the trio's driving artistic force), Teddy (the actor) and George (the writer). As they need a place to live, Alice invites them to stay in her house temporarily. The arrangement leads to new friendships and relationships forming but Alice’s new domestic arrangement is threatened when her ex-husband unexpectedly arrives in Los Angeles.
