Synopsis: Set at the turn of the century. Story tells of a strong willed girl who works for two brothers as a servant. Free of her mother's influence she rejects the church; after a while begins a sexual relationship with the two men. When she becomes pregnant and is unsure who the father is, she is pressured into marrying. However because of her rejection of the church she decides to remain unmarried which leads to much misery for her and the child later in life.
