Synopsis: All prints of the original version were believed to have been destroyed in a Nazi raid on Max Hirschfeld's offices in 1933. A fragment resurfaced in the holdings of Gosfilmofund, a Russian distributor many years later, after Hirschfeld's death and was restored by the Film Museum, Munich.Synopsis: Drama. Paul, a famous violinst falls in love with Kurt who is one of his students. During one of his promiscious encounters, Paul meets the working class Franz Bollek at a gay jamboree. Franz blackmails Paul for his homosexuality and both end up going to jail - Franz for extortion, and Paul simply for being homosexual. On his release, Paul realises that he is an outcast in society and commits suicide. Kurt vows to fight for the rights of homosexuals.
