Synopsis: Science fiction. In the year 10,191, the House Atreides is awarded fiefdom of the planet Arrakis, the only source of the all-powerful 'spice' that extends life and facilitates space travel. This proves, however, to be a trap set by the emperor, for the previous rulers of the planet, the Harkonnens, wipe out most of the Atreides, leaving only a young man who may be a messianic figure known as the Kwisatz Haderach, and his mother Jessica. They escape into the desert to seek help from the indinegous people, the Fremen.
