Synopsis: Sinan, a literature graduate returns from his studies in the coastal city of Canakkale to his parents’ home in the small rural town of Can, where he hopes to raise funds to publish a book of his essays and short stories which are inspired by his barely concealed dislike for the region and its inhabitants. But his teacher father Idris has accumulated large gambling debts and Sinan becomes increasingly disenchanted by his father and provincial life as he starts to worry that he will not achieve his literary ambitions and will instead be reduced to teaching in the east following military service.
