Synopsis: Set in post-war France with its newly-formed 'existentialist' movement, film concerns a successful actress who craves fame beyond her lifetime. While on a provincial tour, she meets and falls in love with a mysterious stranger who, in a moment of desperation, reveals he is immortal.
