2012 (Original title)
Date: 2009 (Copyright)

Country: USA

Directed by: Roland Emmerich

Synopsis: Apocalyptic disaster film. In 2009, Geologist Adrian Helmsley and his friend Satnam discover that elements from solar flares have penetrated the Earth's core, setting in motion a future chain of huge disruptions to the Earth which could lead to an apocalypse, coincidentally matching timings and dates given in the ancient Mayan calendar. Governments secretly plan and construct a series of "arks" to hold an elite of officials and those wealthy enough to pay for tickets. As earthquakes, erupting volcanos and tsunamis occur in 2012, killing thousands, writer Jackson Curtis tries to save his family, and along with a group of others, stowaway on board one of the arks in the Himalayas.
