Synopsis: Based on the novel by Graham Greene. Set in London during World War II, about the adulterous affair between a writer and the American wife of a British civil servant, which ends abruptly after their lovemaking is interrupted by a bomb blast. Period drama. When Maurice Bendrix, a handsome young writer, meets Sarah Miles, an unhappily-married woman, they begin a passionate affair which lasts for several years until Sarah inexplicably ends the liaison. When Bendrix meets Sarah's husband by chance, who informs him of his suspicions that Sarah is being unfaithful, both lover and husband form an unusual bond.
