Synopsis: Set in the late 1940s. Margaret MacNeil lives in the small mining community of Nova Scotia. Her father and brother both died in mining accidents and when Margaret marries an ex-miner, she makes him promise never to return to the mines. Unfortunately, economic reality forces him to break his promise and he too, dies in a mining accident. Mad with grief Margaret builds a ghoulish shrine, housing preserved body parts, to commemorate the members of her family who have died in the coal mines.
