Title card: 'Made on location in Sardinia and at the Dino de Laurentiis Studio, Rome' Several composers were mooted during pre-production and production for the film by Joseph Losey, including Michel Legrand. The latter only roughly drafted two initial songs with music, in collaboration with Allan and Marilyn Bergman (c.August/September 1967) but then had to decline working on the film subsequent to that due to commitments made on another project for the dates he would be needed for Boom! in January/February 1968. John Dankworth also worked on a score in early 1968, before finally John Barry became the film's music composer. [This information came from correspondence between Joseph Losey and the named individuals].
