- SynopsisHammer's last prehistoric film which follows in the footsteps of One Million Years B.C (1966), When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1969) and Slave Girls (1967). A volcanic eruption kills and scatters the rock tribe and two tribesmen battle for the leadership of the tribe. Mak prevails, and leads his tribe across a barren wilderness until they meet up with the Fair tribe. Mak takes a wife and she becomes pregnant and gives birth to two sons, one blond and one dark. When grown up, and with their father dead , the two sons battle for supremacy of the tribe - battling a fearsome group of neanderthals, a huge cave bear, the murderous and supernatural mud men and themselves before one of them prevails in a spectacular fight atop a huge cliff. - Work historyAlthough the press booklet assigned names to some of the characters in the film (probably as an aid to the synopsis), as there is no dialogue other than grunting in the film itself, none of these names are actually used.
