Synopsis: The film maker follows her mother's journey to Ireland, to attempt to discover her roots and the identity of her father. She was adopted by a couple in Stoke in 1946, because her Irish parents, from County Clare, were unmarried and shunned by a society under the influence of strict Catholic morality. They encounter hostility from relatives, with the exception of one rural couple, related to the father, who then travel to New York, their first journey outside Ireland, to trace his footsteps.
