Pink Floyd the Wall - Casting Correspondence - Correspondence mostly concerning casting 'Pink Floyd The Wall'. Includes:
1) A note from Alan Parker's secretary Angie [Angela Micklesburgh] on casting Bob Geldof, casting extras and whereabouts of other members of the production team (August 1981);
2) Copy letters from Alan Parker to Hilton McRae (27 August 1981) and Jimmy Woods (1 September 1981) regretting they were not going to be cast in the film;
3) A memo to Celestia Fox, casting manager, from Margie [Margery Simkin], casting New York, with notes on possible American men for ‘The Wall’;
4) A telex from Bobby Littman to Alan Parker offering to take part in 'The Wall' with pencil notes of a humorous rejection of the idea by Parker (24 September 1981) [see also PKR-1-12-7-3 for further letter from Littman;
5) Three letters from Harold Innocent to Parker concerning his availability to take part in the film (c. September -October 1981);
6) A letter from P A Smythe, thanking the people whom her son, David, [young Pink’s friend] worked with and for casting David in the film (30 November 1981).
7) A letter from Graham Turner asking Alan Parker to send a 90th birthday card to Margery Mason, who played the teacher's wife, 'I am secretly writing to various people who have worked with her over the years' (8 September 2003).
The file also includes a call sheet dated 31 January 1981 from the film 'Gandhi' covering the filming of Gandhi's funeral, this was apparently circulated in the film community to show the large scale of extras, and associated costs that were used in filming the film. There is in addition an [undated] note from David Wimbury, production manager, to Alan Marshall, producer regarding a screenplay of William Goldman's novel ‘The Princess Bride’ which United Artists were considering asking Alan Parker to direct [this film was, in fact, made in 1987 and directed by Rob Reiner]. - 1 file - PKR-1-12-2-6
