- SynopsisSpoof. In Victorian London, depressed ex-army doctor John Watson is unwittingly saved from jumping off a roof when he misunderstands the objections of private detective Sherlock Holmes in the garden below, who simply wants nobody to land on his prize marrow and squash it. The two go on to become friends. They try to stop the evil Professor Moriarty, but find themselves more involved with an imposter he has put in his place. They become involved in a plot to kill Queen Victoria, and many mishaps ensue, including an unfortunate event when Holmes and Watson believe they may have accidentally killed the queen themselves. Their landlady Mrs Hudson entertains many visitors, such as Einstein, Mark Twain and Charlie Chaplin. Finally, the detective duo learn that a major crime is to be committed by an unsuspected person aboard the Titanic. They race to save the queen from a carefully-placed time-bomb. (Synopsis)
- Work historyPlot/re-shoots note: One version of the film begins not with Watson jumping off a roof (as in the UK release) but with Holmes and Watson as schoolboys. This version appears to have been part of re-shoots, as featured in a casting call document requiring Holmes and Watson as 10-year-olds, a girl called Bridgette of whom Holmes is fond, and 'tough boys' and 'mean girls'. The document says the film 'will shoot in London 4th - 15th June [2018]'.
