- Work historyAccording to the production notes, Anthony Fabian acquired the screen rights to Sandra Laing's story, and then sold the publication rights to Miramax Books, who in turn commissioned her biography from New York-based journalist Judy Stone. This was published as 'When She Was White: The True Story of a Family Divided by Race'.
