An orphaned boy, Harry Potter, is taken to live with his unpleasant aunt and uncle - the Dursleys - and their repellant son Dudley. Treated as a second class citizen in the family home (he is forced to live under the stairs), Harry is finally rescued on his eleventh birthday by the giant Hagrid. Through Hagrid, Harry learns that his parents were wizards murdered by the evil Voldemort and that he is to attend a special school by the name of Hogwarts. Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione adjust to life at the school and Harry discovers that he has a special talent for Quidditch, an aerial ball game.
