- SynopsisProduction footage for the OMNIBUS programme on Quentin Tarantino (tx. 25.10.94) of Tarantino in conversation with Brian De Palma. They begin by discussing the violence in their films and the media's reaction to this. De Palma talks about how he has to make films in the mainstream in order to raise the money for more personal projects. Both then discuss how this can lead to making uninteresting films, but also that making films for oneself and a specialised audience can do likewise. They then discuss how they structure their films and how a more sophisticated audience today can cope with more fragmented story lines and flashbacks, with particular reference to RAISING CAIN and PULP FICTION, which they see as a result of television viewing. The making of BLOW OUT, one of Tarantino's favourite films, is then described by De Palma, with particular reference to the involvement of John Travolta. They both discuss test screenings and their distrust of them, with De Palma commenting that directors today have less control over the final cut than they did in the 1970s because the studios rely far too much on the reactions of test audiences.
