- Synopsis"SHEFFIELD. West Bromwich Albion win F.A. Cup Semi-Finals. W. Bromwich Albion 1, Blackburn R. 0." The teams run out onto the pitch (30). The game in progress (48ft). [4/4/1912]. "WEIDA. "YOUNG GERMANY" Christening of the boats presented to the Society by the German Emperor." Kaiser Wilhelm II, accompanied by his staff and President of the rowing club greets officials (14). The Emperor empties a glass of wine into a racing shell; the guests give three cheers while the Emperor and his staff salute; two racing shells in the foreground (24ft). "LONDON. WAITRESSES' WALK. Amusing race at Geneva A.A. club sports. All the ladies were disqualified for running except the last two who secured 1st and 2nd prizes!" Four women competitors running around the bend of a stadium, followed by two who are walking (34). Eight men in a tug of war contest (53). Men in steeple chase event clear a jump and land in the water (62ft). "NEWHANS (?). AUSTRIAN MEMORIAL. After unveiling of a statue to national heroes, the colours of the 75th Regt. of Infantry are consecrated". Conculsion of the service in front of the memorial. Army officers gather around a table covered with a white sheet; each officer taps the table with a hammer (?). The standard bearer is flanked by infantry who fire two salvoes (48ft). LONDON. FLYING AT HENDON. Magnificent flights during the Easter Holidays." Two aircraft (Farmans) taxiing in opposite directions past spectators. Take off and flight around the field; aircraft in flight has pronounced oscillating motion (50). A monoplane flies over the field (probably Grahame White in his Nieuport monoplane) (56ft). [5-6/4/1912]. "IPSWICH. THE GREAT FIRE AT IPSWICH. Whole street destroyed and more than £100,000 worth of damage done." The damaged buildings in Princes Street which had housed Messrs R.D. and J.B. Fraser's bedding and cabinet factory, where the fire started. A building across the street which had been an electrical engineers (45ft). [6/4/1912] (Shotlist)
