- SynopsisTelevision play adapted from the work by Tad Mosel about ageing star Adeline Girard. (Synopsis) A London Playhouse production about an ageing singer who has to come to terms with her declining popularity. Adeline Girard has been a big star in her time. Now an elderly lady, she is still used to the lifesyle of a showbiz celebrity. When a young couple is chatting throughout her act, she walks off stage and loses her job. In the course of the night, Miss Girard has to face up to reality. She is confronted with the fact that she no longer is as famous as she used to be. Her financial situation is rather desperate, which makes her houskeeper leave her job. Miss Girard also realises that she leads a rather lonely life, and is desperately trying to make people spend some time with her. In the end she decides to face up to the reality of her life.
