- SynopsisIn the early 1940s, 33 British servicemen stationed in Russia fell in love and married Russian women. They were called home very soon afterwards and the British Government in 1942 legislated that if a British serviceman married a Russian woman he would have to leave the Soviet Union immediately. By the end of the war 18 women ahd been allowed to join their husbands but 15 remained behind, the victims of worsening relations between the Soviet Union and Britain, and they were sent to Stalin's prison camps camps for hard labour. After Stalin's death in 1953 only one was reunited with her husband. (Synopsis)
