- SynopsisIn 1932, 400 black men from Macon County, Alabama, suffering from syphilis were recruited for the Tuskegee medical study. They were not treated for syphilis. The purpose was to study the course of the untreated disease and to perform autopsies after death. Even after the discovery of penicillin during world War II they were given fake treatment. In 1966, Peter Buxton a Public Health Service scientist bagan a campaign to have the experiment stopped. Action was only taken in 1972. Some of the 15 survivors and some of the doctors who took part are interviewed. (Synopsis)
