- SynopsisTRICK FILM. A dancer dreams she dances beneath the sea, on an ice cap and in a tropical landscape before waking to find herself too near the fire. A woman sitting by the fire reading a journal falls asleep and dreams (23). The scene changes to a backdrop of shoreline and cliffs; the woman goes into a bathing tent and emerges in a swimming costume. Unknown to her, a man takes a photograph just as she is about to dive into the sea (61). Shot of the woman dancing superimposed over shots of fish, to indicate the sea bottom (84). The woman rises up through an ice hole and shivers until a fairy, appearing in the sky, miraculously clothes her in a fur hat and dress (109). The woman dances as it begins to snow (155). Smoke appears from the ice and the woman is transformed, wearing black tights, bodice and a veil, into a tropical landscape. Smoke issues from the ground as she dances until she falls asleep (181). The woman wakes up from her dream to find her shoe on fire from the grate, and leaps from her chair (193ft). (Shotlist)
