- SynopsisScience-fiction romance drama. A scientist creates a laboratory reproduction of his colleague's wife, with whom he is in love. Friends Bill, Robin and Lena grow up in a tranquil English village, but Lena moves to America. As adults, Robin and Bill build a machine that can reproduce any item. Lena, back in England, falls in love with Robin, much to Bill's dismay, as he loves her too. Bill then considers making a double of Lena for himself to have. Lena and Doc have misgivings but can see his point. Robin is not told. Bill's plans overlook one crucial detail, however, which works against the intended happy outcome. The story is told in flashback, narrated by the village's avuncular Doctor Harvey. (Synopsis)
