Synopsis: First part of a two-part adaptation of Rober Louis Stevenson's 'Treasure Island'. Young Jim Hawkins comes into possession of a map possibly leading to the island location of the pirate Captain Flint's treasure. Dr Livesey encourages Jim to seek the assistance of Squire Trelawney in funding an expedition to find the treasure. John Silver and other former members of Flint's crew manage gain work as crew on the expedition on boad the Hispaniola. En route Silver stirs up ill-feeling between the crew and the officers. Jim overhears the plotting between Silver and his old crewmates and steals the map from Squire Trelawney. On arrival at the island Silver plans to dispose of crew members who are not on his side. Meantime, on the Hispaniola the crew have taken action against the officers to take the ship.
