Synopsis: Comedy. David Webb is a planning engineer whose ingenious new efficiency design for industry promises to be a big success. The board of the company he works for hope to secure the necessary extra financing from the wealthy businessman Sir Godfrey Cowan. Sir Godfrey is about to sail to New York aboard the "Queen Elizabeth" to make a deal with a rival firm, so Webb finds himself aboard, with the duration of the voyage to persuade Sir Godfrey to fund his design. One snag is that Webb always clams up when given the chance to explain his ideas to his bosses, and another is that he does not know what Sir Godfrey looks like. During the trip, the barman explains to Webb that the ship's clocks stop each each midnight, and one hour is 'lost', as they travel into the next time zone. As if by magic, during this hour 'outside time', Webb loses his inhibitions and can talk to anyone, dance, play the fool, run an auction, explain his plans and act as boldly as he likes. This wins him the friendship of fellow passengers like the glamorous American film star Georgia Brent, but it gets him into trouble with Sir Godfrey.
