- SynopsisFollows the Japanese pop music performer Kazuko Hohki on a return visit to her native country with her group `Frank Chickens', during which she decides to get married to her English boyfriend to please her mother. She sets out to discover what it takes to a be a "good wife of Tokyo". Her mother, who is a priest with the religion `The House of Development', performs the ceremony. She is also seen performing "perfect reality plate spinning" - a zen demonstration of a happy marriage, counselling a woman whose husband has just committed suicide and leading the early morning laughing practice. The film suggests how women in Japan may be changing. (Synopsis) The film shows how the new generations of Japanese women may be changing as radically as Japanese technology. It looks at the "House of Development," a religion which encourages self-confidence and individuality, is very popular with women in Japan, and points to the universal role of religion in women's lives. The film traces the return of Kazuko Hohki to Japan from Tottenham for her marriage to her English boyfriend Grant Showbiz. She takes her performance duo FRANK CHICKENS with her. Includes a zen demonstration in the art of happy marriage by Kazuko's mother Yuriko; Kazuko's concerts; the religious women's laughing practice; and a counselling session. (Synopsis)
