- SynopsisDiscussion series in which Sir Alan Walters, Gerry Cohen, Leslie Hannah, Walter Wriston discuss their views of the development and future of capitalism. Cohen's book `Karl Marx's Theory Of History: A Defence' has been highly acclaimed. Cohen argues in it that capitalism doesn't work as it is self destructive. If markets reach an equilibrium it is not attractive to the capitalist. Therefore capitalists must continue to search for new needs to be satisfied, in attempt to ensnare the consumer into newer and ever more destructive desires. (Synopsis)
