After first plunging into self-pity, then a bout of hedonistic pleasure-seeking, he finally finds satisfaction through building a children's playground. (Synopsis) Drama set in post-war Tokyo. A civil servant discovers that he is suffering from terminal cancer and tries to give what little life he has left meaning, initially through a hedonistic pursuit of pleasure, then by dedicated himself to converting a rubbish-strewn swamp into a children's playground.
