- SynopsisTaxi driver Ted Peters investigates the shooting of his old childhood and army friend Dave Robinson, when he finds the latter dead in the back of his cab. Ted had previously given Dave a lift to a dance hall, where his girlfriend, Joy, now gets a job as a dance hostess in order to investigate further. The dance hall is the cover for a gang of black marketeers led by a Mr. Gregory and Paul Baker with whom Robinson had become involved following the war. When Ted appears to be getting too close, the gang, still unaware of his connection with Joy, attempt to have him killed, but he survives. Joy overhears the gang plotting a warehouse break-in and informs Ted. The latter prevents the gang from successfully carrying out the raid and Baker is arrested. Gregory discovers who Joy is and takes her hostage when he attempts to flee the dance hall, but Ted arrives and overpowers him in a struggle. (Synopsis)
