Synopsis: Biographical drama. The life of Howard Hughes from the 1920s to the 1940s. Hughes spends his wealth making the film 'Hell's Angels', and woos such Hollywood stars as Katharine Hepburn and Ava Gardner. He builds and pilots innovative new planes, breaks speed records and flies round the world. He takes TWA into a battle against Pan Am for dominance of civil aviation, and defends himself in public hearings arranged by a corrupt senator. All through this, Hughes struggles with the fear that he will one day lose his mind.
