Synopsis: Looks at the stories behind an extraordinary exhibition about childhood that ran at the Tate Modern earlier this year. Created entirely by children and young people, the dark side of growing up in contemporary in Britain is narrated to filmed images of the paintings, expressionist sculptures and installations that depict their lives. All the young people are involved with Kids Company: an organisation that helps, reintegrates and supports young people who have suffered bullying, abuse and other difficult background issues. This first episode deals with the childhood trauma of loneliness, family break-ups and abuse within families.
