- SynopsisA profile of the novelist and writer Angela Carter, filmed in the last months before her death. An exploration of her life and work is undertaken through a search for what Carter calls "The Curious Room", the room in which all the secrets of a person's life are stored before they are born, and which they spend their lifetime trying to remember. Interview sequences and scnes from Carter's life in South London are intercut with encounters between author and some of her creations, including Tristessa from `The Passion of New Eve', Fevvers from `Nights at the Circus' (played by Joanna Mays), and the twins Nora and Dora Chance from `Wise Children'. In interview Carter she discusses the political nature of art and her appreciation of Shakespeare. She also contributes some new writing to the programme. Contributors include film director Neil Jordan. (Synopsis)
