Synopsis: A report on the threat of increasing energy bills due to the rise in demand and reliance on imports due to our dwindling stocks. The report looks at how wasteful users are, asking one 'typical' family to monitor their energy consumption. Mathew Knight (from the Energy Saving Trust) offers the family advice with an energy audit, demonstrating how taking steps to be more energy efficient can result in lower bills and also be more environmentally friendly. In contrast - Sue Roaf has an energy efficient house and uses solar panels to provide energy for the house, Brill Church of England Primary School uses a wind turbine and solar panels for energy and is installing a ground source heat pump. How useful are wind farms? Includes intvs with Professor Ian Fells (Energy Expert, University of Newcastle), Paul Horswell, Chris Hirst (Heateacher, Brill School), Dale Vince (Ecotricity) and Professor David Bellamy (Conservationist).
