Synopsis: Looks at the release of convicted murderers on `home visits' which have sometimes led to the escape of the prisoner or another murder. A convicted murderer, John Bowden, is interviewed about his escape through the `home visits' scheme. Two further stories are outlined of Malcolm Smith who murdered a woman and John Hilton who murdered his estranged wife and stabbed her boyfriend. John Hilton is now on `home visit' release and the boyfriend is seeking police protection. There is also a report from Leyhill Open Prison in Gloucestershire which the Home Office holds up as a model of the `home visits' scheme.
