Synopsis: POP MUSIC SHOW. The final programme of series. Jim Dale introduces the final episode citing the famous acts who had appeared and made their names since the show first began in April 1961. At its close the programme was watched by 16 million viewers (2.34). Voice-over gives names of the artists appearing on tonight's show; the names appear on screen (3.02). Dale introduces Roy `C' who sings `Twistin' Pnuemonia' [announced as `Jumpin' Pneumonia']. The four female dancers behind him are dressed as nurses (5.30). Peter & Gordon sing `To Show I Love You' (7.56). Jim Dale chats to them very briefly about their recent appearances. Dale introduces Pete Murray (8.21). Murray introduces Helen Shapiro who sings `Shop Around' (11.18). Pete Murray and Jim Dale talk briefly about Helen Shapiro's first appearance on the show in 1961. Dale introduces Keith Fordyce (11.50). Fordyce introduces Herman's Hermits who sing `This Door Swings Both Ways' (14.37). [End of Part 1] (15.34). Dale introduces The Ivy League who sing `Willow Tree' (18.02). Dale, Murray and Fordyce decide how many points to give it out of 5. Camera focuses on Janice Nicholls (having joined the group) who gives it `foive'. Pete Murray introduces Ray Ellington and Cleo Laine who perform `We Should Have' in a variety of costumes and settings (21.40). Jim Dale introduces Brian Matthew who introduces Gene Pitney. Pitney sings `Nobody Needs Your Love' (24.22). Jim Dale introduces Ruby Miller who sings `Stop and Think' (27.39). Dale speaks with her briefly. He introduces The Beatles who sing `Rain' (31.06). Audience shots (31.06). Ruby Miller is asked by the group of comperes whether she would like to form a group - she says she would like to have Sybil Thorndike on piano, Sybil Thorndike is a gifted pianist. (31.34). The Beatles sing `Paperback Writer' (33.49). Jim Dale thanks the artists and all other guests who have appeared over the years. The guests stand on stage together and wave (34.13). Credits (35.18). Note. The Beatles are not seen to perform on the Thank Your Lucky Stars stage but at the end of `Paperback Writer' their performance is intercut with shots of the audience apparently watching the group in the studio.
