BFI Collections Information Database

The BFI Collections Information Database (CID) enables you to search for filmographic information and discover associated holdings across the BFI Collections, including:

* Film and television titles held in the BFI National Archive;

* Special Collections;

* Periodical references, press cuttings and other material held by the BFI Library.

Information is structured in a linked hierarchy containing:

* Works – detailed information on film and television titles;

* Manifestations – describing the release, distribution and/or transmission of a work;

* Items – individual copies of a Work present in the BFI National Archive (please note, if the Work does not have an Item record, this indicates that the title is not held in the BFI National Archive).

* Persons & Institutions – people, organisations and groups associated with a film and television title at any level of the hierarchy.

Using the Search tab, you can search CID in different ways; either by entering your own search term(s) or by choosing keyword(s) from an existing list of names, organisations and subjects. On the Results tab you will see a brief display of each found record. Click the text of the record to retrieve more information and display it on the Details tab.
