- SynopsisSyrian refugee Khaled arrives in Helsinki as a stowaway on a coal freighter and applies for asylum with little hope of success. Meanwhile Finnish travelling salesman Wikström leaves his wife Calamnius, wins at poker and buys a restaurant in the remotest corner of Helsinki with his winnings. When the authorities turn down Khaled’s application, he decides to remain in the country illegally and suffers at the hands of racist thugs. One day Wikström discovers Khaled sleeping in the backyard behind his restaurant and he provides him with a bed and a job. After his fellow workers help Khaled to get fake credentials he decides to find the whereabouts of his sister Miriam who was lost en route from Aleppo. (Synopsis)
