- SynopsisFantasy. In Middle-earth, Hobbit Bilbo Baggins decides to write down for his nephew Frodo the adventures he experienced as a younger Hobbit. His story tells of how wizard Gandalf the Grey enlisted Bilbo to join a company of thirteen dwarfs led by Thorin Oakenshield. The dwarfs aim to reclaim the mountain kingdom of Erebor from where their people were expelled in times past, and which is now the domain of a fire-breathing dragon called Smaug, who sits on a vast hoard of the dwarfs' gold. Bilbo's quiet life is transformed as he is swept into the epic quest, involving the party being on the run from deadly orcs, captured and partially cooked by trolls and seeking a hidden keyhole in a mountainside. Based on the novel J.R.R. Tolkien, the story takes place about 60 years before the events depicted in ‘The Lord of the Rings.’ (Synopsis)
