- SynopsisDetective thriller. In 1934 Jerusalem, Belgian detective Hercule Poirot solves a local theft before travelling to Istanbul to take the opulent Orient Express towards England. His fellow passengers in the Calais Coach include an elderly Russian princess, a young count and countess, a lady's maid, a butler, a governess, a doctor (and former soldier), a shady businessman, an Austrian professor and a teetotal missionary. As the train traverses the Dinaric Alps, an avalanche strands it outside a mountain tunnel, with the Calais Coach perched on a high viaduct. It soon becomes apparent that one of the passengers has been murdered. As the train is being rescued from the snow, Poirot investigates to bring the guilty to justice. He discovers that not everyone aboard has been telling the truth, and memories of a past crime take on new urgency. (Synopsis)
