- SynopsisBiopic about the life and career of the French oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau, who in 1948 decided to quit his job as a naval officer and devote his life to exploring the oceans. After purchasing a ship called the Calypso and refitting it as a mobile laboratory for field research, Cousteau set out off to explore the sea with his wife Simone, eldest son Jean-Michel, and the scuba diver ‘Bebert’ Falco. Over the next thirty years Cousteau’s adventures at sea lead to professional success but his lack of appreciation for his wife and children lead to a fraught relationship with his youngest son Philippe.
