- SynopsisDrama which recounts the period spent by Thomas Jefferson in Paris as America's Ambassador to France. He was a 41 year-old widower, and was accommpanied by his teenage daughter and his black, slave manservant. France was on the brink of revolution. The story relates Jefferson's platonic relationship with a free-spirited painter and society flirt, Maria Cosway, and the beginning of his sexual liaison with the sister of his manservant, also a slave, who bore him several children.
