- SynopsisIn the summer of 1910, several tourists go missing while holidaying on the coast of the Pas-de-Calais in northern France. The investigations of policemen Machin and Malfoy lead them to Slack Bay where a small community of fishermen live, including the impoverished Brufort family, who make a living scraping mussels off the rocks at low tide. Other residents include the wealthy and decadent Van Peteghem family, who spend every summer at their villa on the hill above the bay. The lives of the two families intertwine, when a burgeoning romance develops between the Brufort’s teenage son Ma Loute and Billie Van Peteghem, who dresses as a boy but says she is a girl in disguise.
