- Synopsis16th James Bond film. Drugs baron Franz Sánchez has Bond's DEA agent friend Felix Leiter widowed on his wedding night and fed to a shark. Bond, ordered to leave the matter for the Americans to sort out, resigns his licence to kill and sets out on his own to settle the score personally against Sánchez. Posing as a gun-for-hire, Bond is employed by Sánchez, whereupon he sets about destroying the villain's drugs empire. Complicating his mission are his relationships with Pam Bouvier, a US pilot who has her own plans for Sánchez, and Lupe Lamora, the villain's mistreated girlfriend who takes a shine to Bond. - Work historyProduction note: Although British-based Eon Productions is not cited in the onscreen credits of this James Bond film, it is effectively represented in the credit 'Albert R. Broccoli presents' (which comes in addition to his producer credit, and which is expanded in subsequent Bond films to 'Albert R. Broccoli's Eon Productions presents'). At the time of production, Eon was at least partly a US company, as United Artists had bought shares in it.
