- SynopsisExperimental. An impression of city life in modern Russia. It consists of unrelated shots of life in the city. The director regarded the film as "cinematic research in cinema, an attempt at a cinema-language, uninfluenced by literature or the theatre". The film is made in a series of definite sequences each forming one reel. (Synopsis) The BFI Video 1998 VHS release includes the following: two versions of Dziga Vertoz's film: first the original silent version, accompanied by a new musical score composed and performed by the Alloy Orchestra, then a repeat of the film with a commentary by the Russian film historian Yuri Tsivian. Released by arrangement with George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film. (Synopsis)
