- Work historySome initial shooting was done in 1969, with several hours of scenes with Glenda Jackson and Ian Bannen shot. These were cut in various alternative ways by editor John Inglis and previewed in a Wardour Street preview theatre by John Schlesinger (director), Joseph Janni (producer), Miriam Brickman (casting) and Penelope Gilliatt (writer). Ian Bannen then subsequently dropped out and Peter Finch took on the role of Daniel Hirsh. The film started shooting again c.January 1970 by which time John Inglis was engaged on another project. Richard Marden was then the principal editor on the film.[Information given by editor John Inglis, January 2023].
