- SynopsisWar drama/action. In January 1879 a force of around 4000 Zulus, who had just wiped out 1200 British soldiers in Natal, headed for the mission station at Rorke's Drift, to destroy it. Against the advice of the Swedish missionary, who fears they will all be killed and should not fight but flee, Lieutenant Chard with seven other junior officers and 97 men extemporises a defence barricade to defend the mission against repeated attacks. The Zulus finally retire, saluting the enemy's courage. Eleven Victoria Crosses were subsequently awarded to the defenders. (Synopsis)
