- SynopsisFantasy adventure. The evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald escapes imprisonment and begins to amass a force of followers in a bid to divide the world between magic and non-magic people. Gentle magizoologist Newt Scamander sets out to thwart his malicious plans, starting in Paris where he encounters the magic American sisters Tina and Queenie. Though devoted to non-magic Jacob, Queenie shows some interest in listening to Grindelwald's disturbing message. At the magic school Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore is approached by the Ministry of Magic to go on a mission to kill Grindelwald, and he incurs their wrath when he insists that he is unable to. Meanwhile, Grindelwald is trying to find the mysterious young man Credence Barebone (whose identity is bound up in a murky family history involving a merciless rich man's second marriage, a switching of infants and a drowning at sea), as Grindelwald has a deadly job for him that only Credence can do.
