- SynopsisThe story of the life of newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane as investigated by a reporter after his death. Charles Foster Kane, a child of humble parents, is left a considerable fortune at an early age. Following his expulsion from the cream of the country's schools and universities, he buys a small newspaper. He shrewdly increases his investments and soon becomes the nation's biggest newspaper proprietor. He marries Emily Norton, a woman of his own class, but is subsequently divorced. His associations with Susan Alexander, an unimaginative young woman, cause the end of his first marriage and the abrupt termination of his political career. He later marries Susan. His second marriage is also a failure. His financial powers then begin to wane, and he eventually dies, a tragically unhappy, if still wealthy man. (Synopsis)
